Our Story
Why we started this site
We noticed something. People wanted to learn traditional Latvian belt loom weaving — really learn it, not just glimpse it in museums. But most resources were either too vague or assumed you already knew the basics. That gap bothered us.
So we started researching. We looked at how successful beginner workshops structure their teaching. We studied the fundamentals of loom setup, weaving motions, and pattern reading. We gathered practical details about what actually works when someone's picking up a loom for the first time. And we wrote it down clearly.
This site exists because we believe Kuldīga's weaving tradition shouldn't be locked away behind jargon or assumptions. A beginner should be able to read a guide, understand it, and actually start practicing. That's what we're building — one guide at a time.
